Did you know there are certain things you need to do to care for your toddler’s smile that are completely different when it comes to caring for an infant’s smile? Well, it’s true. You need to treat each smile differently so they can remain in tip-top shape. Our dentist, Dr. Greg Weeder, is happy to help you do so by giving you the tips and information you need.
Infant oral hygiene
It’s important to care for your infant’s gums when they don’t have any little chompers yet. You can do so by rubbing the gums clean with a wet washcloth after each time they eat. When their first little teeth grow into place, use a child-sized toothbrush and water to brush their teeth twice a day.
Toddler oral hygiene
It’s important to brush your toddler’s teeth twice a day with a child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, but only use this toothpaste if they are 2 years old and older and if your toddler knows they should not swallow it. It’s also important to floss their little teeth daily.
