Preparing for Your Child’s First Visit

Posted .

Appointments to our office can be a nice experience for everyone. We recognize that bringing young children into the office can be a tough time for some families, but it’s vital because the oral health of children can deteriorate hastily if it’s not watched over by a professional. Here are some suggestions on how you can make your first visits to our office successes.

Before coming into our office, practice having your child open their oral cavity on command. This will help the dentist as they check and clean your child’s chompers when the time comes. If your child is old enough and interested, you might watch dental videos with them and explain what the dentist does and why they do it.

Another method to make your appointment easier is to ask for the oral forms ahead of time; filling them out from home is much easier than filling them out in our office when you have a tired child on your lap. Finally, prep a list of inquiries for your doctor so that they can give you guidance on maintaining the greatest oral health for your child.
